Our Leadership

Our Clergy

St. Barnabas is blessed with two active priests—one retired—who are vital members of our worship committee.

Fr. David Madsen, Rector, joined us from St. Albans in El Cajon. He is known for his leadership in community service, particularly through his work with Welcome Ministry. Fr. Madsen brings a passion for making ancient traditions relevant and meaningful to the people we serve today.

Fr. Michael Plekon (Ret.) also volunteers his ministry at St. Barnabas. A priest, professor, author, sociologist, and theologian, he has published more than a dozen books. Fr. Plekon is an active member of the Borrego community and serves as co-chair of the Borrego Ministers Association.

We were also fortunate to have Fr. George Keith (Ret.) as part of our community. In addition to his priestly experience, he brings extensive theatrical training, using his gifts to make sermons both engaging and spiritually moving—truly “must-see” messages that bring God to the people and the people to God.

Our Vestry

The Vestry (our Board of Trustees) is composed of nine lay members and the Rector. Members serve three-year terms, with three new members elected annually to ensure both continuity and fresh perspectives.

Current Vestry:

Llouise Jee (Senior Warden), Chuck Bennett (Junior Warden), Jeanne Plekon (Treasurer), Cathy Gay, Jan Naragon,  & Diane Johnson.

The Vestry oversees the temporal business and affairs of the church. Meetings are typically held the fourth Monday of each month, both in person and on Zoom.
