In Memoriam: Patrick Grannan

Author:

Fr. David Madsen, Rector – St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Borrego Springs

Dear members and friends of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Borrego Springs, California, Mr. Patrick Grannan, passed away on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, October 8th or 9th. Patrick was a member of St. Barnabas, served on the Vestry, Finance Committee, and Director of Communications. He also served on the Rectors Search Committee, and was the lead communicator with me during the discernment process of my calling to serve as Rector of St. Barnabas.
The Grannan family will take care of burial plots in Columbus, Ohio, where the family has reserved plots. We are working with the family to plan a Celebration of Life service at St. Barnabas. As soon as we have more information and a date, we will make the announcement of the service. Please keep the family in your prayer.
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend the soul of your servant, Patrick Grannan, now departed from the body. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your fold, a lamb of your flock, a sinner of your redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

Fr. George Keith, a retired Episcopal priest who served St. Barnabas and worked closely with the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center, continues to be held in prayer by the parish and wider community. He is remembered by name at every Sunday service, reflecting the lasting impact of his ministry and presence in Borrego Springs. Fr. George receives regular visits from the priests and people of St. Barnabas, as well as from Archdeacon Cindy Campos and local San Diego priest Fr. Richard Vevia. Recently, Jan Naragon and Fr. Michael Plekon spent time visiting Fr. George, offering prayer and companionship on behalf of the parish. The photos below capture moments from that visit and the continued care that surrounds him.
